East Mersea Hall for Nichole & Steve’s Wedding

Twilight Vows & Dance Floor Antics at East Mersea Hall

Can you imagine a more magical setting for a wedding ceremony than East Mersea Hall at twilight?

Picture this: the sun was just beginning to dip over the tranquil lake, casting that perfect, warm glow over the couple as they exchanged their vows. It was an intimate ceremony, surrounded by their closest loved ones, and the love in the air was palpable. As photographers, standing there capturing those quiet, significant looks, we were reminded exactly why we do what we do.

Lakeside Romance

The magic didn’t end with the “I do’s.” Following the ceremony, we ventured around the picturesque lake to capture some couple portraits and group shots.

The backdrop was stunning, the water was glistening in the fading light, creating a dreamy, romantic atmosphere. It’s rare to get such a perfect mix of calm water and dramatic sky, and it really brought out the beauty of the occasion.

Saxophones, Drums, and… The Worm

And then? The party started.

Let us tell you, we haven’t seen a wedding reception quite like this in a while! The energy was absolutely electric. They hired a saxophone and drummer duo to play alongside the DJ, and it set the tone for an unforgettable night. The music was seamless, keeping the dance floor packed from start to finish.

We even witnessed a guest bust out the legendary “worm” dance move, a moment that had us (and the entire room) cheering and laughing in pure delight.

From the tender exchanges by the lake to the infectious energy of the dance floor, this Essex wedding was a treasure to capture. It was a day that perfectly balanced deep emotion with a serious party, and we can’t wait to capture more beautiful memories like this.

Venue Spotlight

East Mersea Hall
Church Ln, East Mersea, Colchester CO5 8FE

East Mersea Hall is a hidden gem on the Essex coast. If you are planning your big day here, here are a few tips to make the most of it:

  • The Bridal Cottage: We highly recommend taking advantage of the on-site bridal cottage. It adds a lovely touch to the morning and provides a serene space for you to get ready or take a breather during the event.

  • The Lake: This is the star of the show. Whether for the ceremony itself or just for photos, the lake provides a stunning backdrop that looks different (but equally beautiful) at every time of day.

  • Guest Logistics: One of the practical perks here is the parking. Be sure to let your guests know there is ample parking on-site—it makes for a much smoother and stress-free arrival for everyone.
